Putting people first: Boosting employee engagement

Putting people first: Boosting employee engagement

We may be firmly focused on technology and IT solutions, but we’re a company with people at its heart. It’s people that power our business and make it what it is. Those people being you – our valued customers – and our incredible Mirus team.

I’m sure you’ve heard the buzz around employee engagement. It’s a term that’s firmly in the spotlight. But that’s a good thing, right?

After all, happy employees are more likely to go the extra mile. In fact, according to the Microsoft Work Trend Index companies with highly engaged workforces have better outcomes, outperforming the S&P 500 after a year.

Three key findings came out of that report:

1. Employee engagement matters, it improves the bottom line

2. Clear communication and goals unlock employee engagement

3. To sustain engagement, we need to build a feedback channel

We’re using a new intranet to boost employee engagement, are you?

Have you got an intranet? How effective is it? It’s an often-under-utilised tool.

Yet, we’ve been looking at the ways to use our newly installed Fresh intranet to improve our employee engagement. Stay tuned for upcoming blogs on how to use an intranet to improve employee engagement.

Earlier this year, we recognised that we could improve our communication around company announcements in particular. We send out loads of emails, but they can get lost (especially if your inbox is anything like mine!). So, we realised we needed a central portal where we could share our events, socials and company information.

As we look forward to onboarding Fresh Intranet in the new year, we are excited about its potential to resolve many of our current challenges. We anticipate it will be particularly handy for new starters, who often get overloaded with information. With Fresh, our intranet will become a useful tool where they can access everything they need at any time.

If you’d like to find out more about using Fresh as an employee engagement tool, please get in touch with your client manager. We’ll also be running events in the new year, so keep an eye out for those as well!

Other ways we’re encouraging employee engagement

We really make an effort to create a fun, vibrant and positive working environment here at Mirus HQ. So, we like to regularly measure employee engagement to see what’s going well, and which areas we need to improve. Here are some of the ways we do it:

Service heroes – we love it when one of our team receives great feedback from you, and we make sure that the whole company knows about it. Our managers can also put forward a team member for recognition. In both cases, our colleagues get CrewHu points for going above and beyond.

CSat scores – when you provide feedback on our service we take it very seriously. That’s why every time an engineer receives positive ‘green’ feedback, they also accrue CrewHu points. One employee recently cashed in £1,000 of Amazon credit he’d saved up in CrewHu points.

Friday Feeds – we love Fridays, especially the last one in the month when we bring in a food truck to gather together to celebrate birthdays, work anniversaries and so much more. We find they really help to boost employee engagement and a feeling of camaraderie.

Have you got a positive story to share about one of our employees? We genuinely care about your experience of our team, so we’d love to hear about it. Please get in touch.

That just leaves me to say, thank you so much for trusting us with your IT challenges this year. As ever, our door is always open. Reach out anytime.

Thanks,

Dan
